My Journey With OneAssure: A Step Into The Insurtech World

As a final year BBA student at PES University, stepping into this new world felt like entering into an uncharted territory. When I got the opportunity to intern with OneAssure, an insurance company, I was both excited and nervous. Did I know, this journey would turn out to be one of the most enriching experiences of my life. 

The Start of My Internship Experience

Starting out as a fresher, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. On my first day, I was briefed about my role and the tasks ahead. The initial challenge? Getting familiar with term insurance. At first, it seemed straightforward — insurance is about financial protection, right? But as I delved deeper, I realized there was so much more about it.

The preparation phase was overwhelming. I had to learn about policies, benefits, premiums, riders, that felt like a different language altogether. Questions kept popping up in my mind: What’s the difference between term insurance and other policies? Why do people need it? How do insurance companies assess risks? With so many doubts swirling around, I felt a mix of curiosity and confusion.

However, as I embarked on this learning journey, I also felt a sense of excitement. It wasn’t just about understanding insurance; it was about stepping into a world where my actions could have a meaningful impact on people’s lives. This realization became my motivation to push through the initial challenges.

Facing Challenges and Gaining Insurance Knowledge 

Thankfully, OneAssure has an incredible work environment and supportive mentors.Just how OneAssure helps hundreds of customers,my seniors and colleagues were there to guide me  whenever I hit a roadblock. They encouraged me to ask questions, no matter how basic they seemed. This made a huge difference in building my confidence.

One of the first things I learned was that term insurance isn’t just a product; it’s a promise of security. This understanding changed how I approached my work. I no longer saw policies as just numbers and clauses but as tools that could safeguard families and help them navigate uncertain times. 

OneAssure’s unique approach to risk assessment and its commitment to simplifying the insurance process for clients was especially inspiring. For instance, I learned about their emphasis on educating clients about the importance of add-ons like critical illness riders and premium waiver benefits. This focus on customization made me appreciate how OneAssure bridges the gap between complex insurance jargon and client needs.

I started reading policy documents, and discussing real-life case studies with my team. Slowly but surely, the pieces of the puzzle began to fit together. I learned about the importance of customizing policies based on individual needs, the role of riders in enhancing coverage, and the significance of clear communication in building trust with clients.

One of the most challenging aspects was understanding the technical terms and financial calculations involved in insurance. It took me several days of focused effort to wrap my head around concepts like sum assured, premium calculations, and claim settlement processes. But with the support of my mentors and colleagues, I gradually gained clarity. 

Insights Gained from the Insurance Sector

While I haven’t yet had the opportunity to apply my knowledge in real-world scenarios, my internship has been a turning point in terms of understanding the essence of the insurance sector. Through my training and discussions with experienced professionals, I’ve gained insights into the practical challenges that clients face when choosing insurance policies. These experiences have taught me the importance of empathy and transparency in addressing client concerns.

One of the most valuable insights was realizing that insurance is about more than just numbers; it’s about protecting people’s dreams and securing their futures. Working with OneAssure, I witnessed how their term insurance policies provide peace of mind to clients, enabling them to navigate uncertain times with confidence.

Another exciting aspect of my internship has been gaining exposure to social media marketing. I’ve always been interested in this field, and working at OneAssure has allowed me to understand its significance in the insurance sector. From observing how campaigns are designed to attract clients to understanding the metrics that measure their success, I’ve been learning the nuances of leveraging social media platforms for marketing. This knowledge aligns with my passion for digital marketing and is helping me build a strong foundation in the field.

What I Learned: Lessons Beyond Insurance

My internship with OneAssure taught me much more than just the complexity of term insurance. It gave me a glimpse into the corporate culture, where teamwork, discipline, and adaptability are crucial. I learned to embrace challenges, be patient with the learning process, and never shy away from asking for help.

This journey also highlighted the importance of effective communication. Whether it was explaining complex policies to clients, collaborating with team members, or presenting my ideas during meetings, clear and concise communication was key to building trust and achieving results.

Another valuable lesson was the importance of empathy. Working in the insurance sector made me realize that behind every policy is a person with hopes, fears, and dreams. Understanding their perspectives and addressing their concerns with empathy helped me build stronger connections and provide better solutions.

In addition to these lessons, my exposure to social media marketing has been an eye-opener. I’ve learned how digital platforms can be utilized to create awareness about insurance products, engage with potential clients, and build a strong brand presence. This experience is not only enhancing my understanding of marketing strategies but also fueling my interest in pursuing a career in social media marketing.

Personal Growth and Reflection from my Internship 

While the technical knowledge and professional skills I gained during my internship were invaluable, the experience also contributed to my personal growth. It taught me to be resilient in the face of challenges, to celebrate small victories, and to continuously strive for improvement.

One of the biggest takeaways from my internship was the importance of self-belief. There were moments when I doubted my abilities, especially during the initial days. But as I overcame obstacles and achieved milestones, I realized that growth comes from stepping out of your comfort zone and embracing new experiences.
